MTV Video Music Awards: where controversy is still the strongest currency

Miley Cyrus during twerkgate (she’ll be presenting the awards this year)

From 2003’s Madonna-Christina Aguilera-Britney Spears three-way kiss, to Kanye West interrupting Taylor Swift in 2009, and Robin Thicke and Miley Cyrus’s twerkgate performance from 2013. Those outrageous moments are increasingly MTV’s only moment in the cultural spotlight.
This year’s show is shaping up to be an interesting one. While many have lamented the current performance lineup, you could chalk that up to it being more of a transitional year, with numerous VMAs first timers on hand to make their debut, from The Weeknd, to Tori Kelly and Twenty One Pilots. That’s not to mention Pharrell, Macklemore and Kanye West – who are rumoured to be unveiling new songs – as well as Justin Bieber, who may continue his rebirth as an EDM figure.
I’ve personally worked on the big show twice, once as a production assistant in 2009 and the next year as a writing consultant, mostly writing presenter banter. Each time I was struck by the amount of money and manpower that goes into the show, and how each segment is meticulously planned and scripted – only to be completely overshadowed when something off-script happens.

It’s like planning a big party. You can make sure the food is hot, the drinks are plentiful and the decorations are just right, but once an acquaintance pees in the punch bowl, that’s all everyone remembers. I worked backstage the year Kanye hopped up on stage to infamously point out that BeyoncĂ© should have won instead of Swift – making the then marginally known singer an object of tabloid fodder for days to come.
But now MTV needs those headline-grabbing moments. For one, the VMAs in the social media age are a much different viewing experience than the VMAs of the 80s or 90s. More tweets mean more viewers, more viewers mean that they’ll presumably watch spots for MTV’s other shows during the breaks – and if one thing is clear, it’s that the network desperately needs a hit.
Sure, they have watered-down, sexualized soaps such as Teen Wolf and the TV version of 90s slasher flick Scream, but Scream’s premiere garnered only a million viewers, compared to 10.1 million for AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead. Not even their other annual awards show – the MTV movie awards, hosted by Amy Schumer – generates much buzz anymore. The VMAs are increasingly one of MTV’s last grasps at mainstream relevance, and network executives have figured out long ago that controversy creates chatter, and chatter translates directly into ratings.
Fortunately for the network, there are controversies brewing even before the proceedings kick off. Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift got into a bit of a spat when this year’s nominations were announced. Minaj, angry she didn’t nab a video of the year nod for Anaconda, made it clear she was none too pleased with the decision. With their millions of fans observing the back and forth and the media eating up every word, Minaj and Swift both concocted a perfect storm of controversy; dragging race, feminism and even body-shaming into one beautifully wrapped package of hype leading up to the broadcast. If people weren’t talking about the VMA’s before, they were now.
Also amping up the attention around this year’s show is MTV’s choice to have Miley Cyrus host the proceedings. In the past, the big show was helmed by whoever was hot in comedy in the time, whether it was Eddie Murphy in the 80s, Dennis Miller in the 90s or Chris Rock in the early 00s. Capitalizing on the headlines Cyrus generated during her aforementioned performance with Thicke – and a self-made reputation as a party girl – throwing her into the mix is like throwing gasoline onto a campfire. Even the ads surrounding the ceremony feature everything from Cyrus with her famed tongue sticking out, to one of her literally crying pills. If that sounds like it makes no sense, it doesn’t and it’s not supposed to.
The VMAs have always been more spectacle than awards show, anyway. The Moonman holds little-to-no stature – I bet you can’t name a single artist who won an award during last year’s ceremony – and MTV knows this full well. The big joke every year is that the show that honors music videos is thrown by a network that doesn’t even play them anymore. The only people who truly care about who wins are the nominees themselves, and even that is debatable (besides Minaj, of course). The biggest trick MTV ever pulled was fooling the world that the VMAs were actually about awards for music videos.

Madonna ‘Going All-Out’ To Win Back Ex-Husband Sean Penn — ‘It’s Only A Matter Of Time’

1. Since the 80's Madonna has been labeled as a fashion icon. But not all her looks have been as successful as her "Like a Virgin" look here. (Photo: Getty Images)

Madonna has always been known as a trendsetter, but it seems she’s turning back the clock when it comes to looking for love.

RadarOnline.com has learned that the Material Girl’s recent public gushing over her ex-husband, Sean Penn, isn’t exactly big news to those in her camp.
“They were hooking up as recently as last year,” one insider tells Radar, noting the diva was “devastated” when Penn eventually got into a relationship with actress Charlize Theron, 40.
“Madonna adores Sean and would give anything to have another shot at love with him,” reveals the insider. “No other guy has come even close in terms of standing up to her, satisfying her physically and being intellectually stimulating.”
Now that Penn, 55, and Theron are on the outs, adds the insider, 57-year-old Madonna is going all-out to win back her former flame. “She has been sending him gifts and suggestive messages — and many believe it’s only a matter of time before he cracks,” says the source.

Modanna and other can't miss shows

FILE - In this Feb. 8, 2015, file photo, Madonna performs at the 57th annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. Madonna, who co-owns Tidal with Jay Z, Beyonce

The thermometer might say it's cooling down as summer gives way to fall. But your ears will relay a different story.
Yes, fans are in store for another blistering hot fall season of live music in the Bay Area, with several top rock, pop, R&B, country and hip-hop stars heading our way over the next few months.
Thousands will be drawn to the marquee annual festivals and concert events, most notably San Francisco's Hardly Strictly Bluegrass (Oct. 2-4; www.hardlystrictlybluegrass.com), Treasure Island Music Festival (Oct. 17-18; www.treasureislandfestival.com) and the Bridge School Benefit concerts at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View (Oct. 24-25; www.bridgeschool.org). There are also countless treasures to be found at the area's intimate clubs, from Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse in Berkeley to Don Quixote's International Music Hall in Felton, among many others.

There's too much to account for, but five can't-miss shows this fall.
  • AC/DC: Sure, Angus Young might be a bit of a one-trick pony. Yet his rapid-fire blues-rock riffs have helped make AC/DC one of the best-selling acts of all time, with worldwide album sales of more than 200 million. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group is touring in support of a new album, "Rock or Bust," yet the real draw is the chance to hear the classic cuts, such as "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap," "High Voltage" and, best of all, "Shoot to Thrill." Details: 7:45 p.m. Sept. 25; AT&T Park, San Francisco; $59.50-$110; www.ticketmaster.com.

  • Madonna: It's been a long time since she's released an album that mattered. Still, Madonna -- even on an off night (or tour) -- is never less than fascinating on stage. She's one of the most influential entertainers of the last 40 years, who basically drew up the blueprint for the modern-day dance-pop diva. Isn't it time to stop settling for imitators and go see the real deal instead? Details: 8 p.m. Oct. 19; SAP Center, San Jose; $40-$355, www.ticketmaster.com.
  • Hot Summer Night: Granted, an event with "summer" in the title isn't an ideal candidate for a fall music preview. But check out the great lineup -- LL Cool J, Bell Biv DeVoe, Salt-N-Pepa, Naughty By Nature, MC Lyte and Case. These are classic R&B acts you shouldn't miss, no matter the season. The show is presented by local radio station 102.9 KBLX-FM. Details: 4 p.m. Sept. 6; Concord Pavilion; $35-$135; www.livenation.com.
  • How the West Was Won: Snoop Dogg is a deserving headliner. Yet the No. 1 reason for attending this show is Schoolboy Q, who is one of the genre's rising stars. Q should appeal to fans of Kendrick Lamar, who is one of his partners in the hip-hop collective Black Hippy. The bill also includes two local legends, E-40 and Too Short, as well as other talents. Details: 6 p.m. Oct. 9; Shoreline Amphitheatre at Mountain View; $29.75-$132; www.livenation.com.

Mariah Carey Is a Better Singer than Madonna, Boyfriend James Packer Decrees

She’s “incredible, amazing, a genius,” he gushes

Mariah Carey and Madonna are 2 of the best-selling and highest rated female entertainers of all time, but when talking strictly of their worth as singers, Mimi’s got Queen Madge beat. At least, according to Mariah’s latest beau, billionaire James Packer, aka the richest man in Australia.
We could argue that Packer is blinded by love in his appraisal of Mariah’s singing abilities, but he is convinced that he’s the voice of reason, saying in a new interview cited by the Daily Mail:
“Mariah is just incredible, amazing she really is... She’s a genius. Who else is there? There is Barbra Streisand, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. Not Madonna... Those three can sing five octaves...”
This sounds like a Mariah “I don’t know her” typical moment (see the video below if you’re not familiar with one of the most famous shade-throwing instances on the Internet), so no wonder rumor has it that Mariah and Packer feel they’re such a perfect fit that they want to get married ASAP.
All jokes aside, there’s really no reason to compare Madonna and Mariah, whether to declare one better than the other, or for the sheer fun of it. They’re both big entertainers in their own right and they have distinct ways of doing that (i.e. entertaining the fans), which means they’re honing different skill sets.
As long as the fans and the critics enjoy their work and they continue to put out new material, pitting them against each other makes no sense. It’s as useful as comparing apples and oranges.

Madonna in Talks for Reality Show

    Madonna

Madonna is in talks to make a reality TV show.
The 57-year-old star has been offered her own programme by production company Bunim Murray, who make 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians', and is keen to sign on after seeing how her pals Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West have made reality TV "cool".
An insider revealed: "Nobody would ever have expected a star as huge as Madonna to ever star in a reality show but it just shows how much times are changing that she's even humouring talks.
"She is friends with Kim Kardashian through Kanye West and Madonna has noticed how Kim and her family have made reality TV very cool and current - it's not just for Z-listers any more."
The 'Living For Love' singer - who released her 13th studio album 'Rebel Heart' in March - would be expected to involve her kids Lourdes, 18, Rocco, 15, and David and Mercy, both nine, in the show, as well as her potential love interests.
The source told The Sun newspaper: "She's not made any decision, she loves giving fans an insight into her life, especially when touring.
"Bunim Murray have proven with Caitlyn Jenner's show I Am Cait that they can tackle sensitive topics and not just make trash TV."
However, Madonna - who will embark on her 'Rebel Heart' world tour next month - previously said she doesn't actually watch TV.
She said: "I don't watch television. Everyone's a bit contest obsessed. I don't actually like the idea of being a judge. It's so, I don't know, subjective - what's good and what isn't.
"I think perhaps we're too obsessed with it."

    Cringe!
The Material Girl is a 57-year-old woman! “Gypsy Rosa Lee…best birthday present ever!”

During the same event, the singer also posted a video of her son Rocco doing an impressive backflip and being cheered on by onlookers.
Madonna never left the spotlight and her music career over the past decades, and it seems that the singer has been having the time of her life especially with the company of her children. Within the 1st photo, the gypsy queen stared down the camera lens as she bit right in to a white disc with the initial “M” hanging out of her mouth.
Prior to her birthday, Madonna posted a throwback photo of herself and her ex-husband, Sean Penn, who turns 55 Monday.

    Madonna_ACRIMA20120201_0075_15

Singer Madonna celebrated her 57th birthday with a Spanish gypsy-themed party.
The “Material girl” hitmaker, who turned a year older on Sunday, hosted the bash at her mansion in the Hamptons here, arriving “in a vintage gypsy wagon filled to overflowing with dancers all in gypsy attire” and then partied until the early hours in a tent filled with bales of hay.
“Everyone sat on the bales of hay and later stood on them to dance. The party was still going as the sun was rising on Monday morning,” a source was quoted as saying by the New York Post newspaper, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
Madonna was escorted to the event by a pair of identical twins, Kevin and Jonathan Sampaio, and was given a French bulldog puppy named Gypsy Rosa Lee as a gift by her children - Lourdes, Rocco, David and Mercy.
The party was also attended by actresses Naomi Watts and Kelly Ripa, as well as stylist B. Akerlund and designers Jeremy Scott and Dan and Dean Caten, all of whom came dressed in full gypsy costume.

15… No, Um, 10… No, Seven Times Madonna Was A Really Great Actress

    madonna-rebel-heart-thatgrapejuice

    Happy Birthday, Madonna!
The reigning Queen of Pop turns the big 5-7 today and to celebrate we thought rather than focus on her music career we’d take a look at her work as an actress instead.

The general consensus among critics and fans alike is that, try as she might, acting is just not Madonna’s forte. As much as we’d like to see her one day accept the Academy Award for Best Actress, the Queen herself seems to understand that’s probably never going to happen, in part because people don’t want it to.
In 2008, she told an interviewer, “What film can survive people saying it’s going to be a bomb from the second it’s announced? Making movies is such an effort, and to do that over and over again, with the possibility that I am going to get the shit kicked out of me — and they really enjoy doing it — I mean, it doesn’t make sense. I have sort of let it go.”

It’s true. Madonna holds the record for being the actress with the most Razzie Awards ever, with a grand total of 15 nominations and nine wins, including one for Worst Actress of the Century in 1999. But that doesn’t mean she’s hasn’t had a few shining moments on the silver screen.
Scroll down for 15… No, um, 10… No, seven times Madonna was a really great actress, and join us in wishing her a very happy birthday!

Seriously, what the hell is this movie even about and why did Madonna ever agree to do it? The gritty, convoluted film-within-a-film is boring to the point of being almost unwatchable. Madonna plays an actress who is being emotionally tortured by her director. Or something. Who really knows? Yet despite a truly terrible story and even worse script, she somehow manages to give a pretty solid performance. When asked about the film after its 1993 release, Madonna replied: “Even though it’s a shit movie and I hate it, I am good in it.” We concur.

Madonna Nostalgic About Sean Penn? Singer Shares Flashback Photo Before Her Birthday

Madonna gets nostalgic by posting an old picture with her ex-husband, Sean Penn, and the Internet starts wondering, is she missing him? The Queen of Pop turned 57 today.

    Madonna Nostalgic
Is Madonna missing Sean Penn? The answer is either yes or she is starting to get nostalgic about the good old days.
On Friday, Madonna uploaded a black and white photo on Instagram where Penn can be seen planting a kiss on the left cheek of the “Material Girl” diva.
The flashback pic was taken in 1988 by fashion photographer Herb Ritts at a charity event in Los Angeles. Madonna captioned the image with:
The “Like a Virgin” artist celebrates her birthday on August 16, while the Milk actor does it on August 17. The soon-to-be 55-year-old movie star was married to Madonna from 1985 to 1989.
The relationship was very tumultuous and covered from all possible angles by the media. After their divorce, Penn went on to marry actress Robin Wright from 1996 to 2010. Madonna was married to English filmmaker Guy Ritchie for eight years before a 2008 split. Penn has two children, and the businesswoman is a mother of four.
The political activist, who won two Academy Awards in his career, reflected in an interview with Esquire UK earlier this year on the things that went wrong in his relationship with Madonna and Wright. He shared:
“Initially, in a divorce, you kick and bite about the other person. But finally you’re looking at your failures to that person, to a marriage, to a friendship, to yourself during that time as well. Because no matter what the other person was or wasn’t, for better and for worse, it really has so little to do with the growth you need to find better circumstances. Almost exclusively it has to do with your own stuff.”
Sean Penn used the chit-chat to profess his love for then-fiancĂ©e, Charlize Theron, the pair called off their engagement in June. Here is how he described his current relationship with the “Like a Prayer” singer:
“I’m very friendly with my first ex-wife.”

Madonna teams up with Gucci for upcoming tour

Singer Madonna is set to embark on a world tour next month and has teamed up with fashion brand Gucci's creative director Alessandro Michele to create the items she will wear on stage.
The designer gear will include a pair of black shoes with laces up to her knees, reports say.

Sharing a photograph of the shoes on photo-sharing website Instagram, she wrote: "Nothing Glamorous about this bathroom but these Gucci Boots are Eeeeevrythang! #rebelhearttour (sic)."
In other photographs, the 'Hung up' hitmaker has shown off a jewelled bodice, numerous glitzy rings and a heavily embroidered, eye-catching dress featuring the "Rebel Heart" logo, from her 13th studio album released in March.
The singer posted another photograph online of a bespoke leather biker jacket, featuring studs and rivets along with 'Rebel Heart' scrawled across the back and images of wasps and a heart.
She captioned the image: "Thank You Gucci for this Gorgeous Gift!@lallo25 #rebelheart (sic)."
The mother-of-four is also expected to wear items designed by Miu Miu, Prada and Moschino when the tour kicks off in Montreal, Canada on September 9.

Madonna announces she will not tour Russia because of its “gay propaganda” laws

    madonna

SPEAKING this week with Entertainment Weekly, ahead of her next world tour, Madonna announced:
“I won’t appear in Moscow or St Petersburg anymore, because I don’t want to perform in places where being homosexual is tantamount to a crime.”
The singer is no stranger for standing against Russia. In 2012 when Madonna was last in the country for her MDNA tour, she publicly spoke out in support of punk band Pussy Riot.
Reported in the Moscow Times, anti-LGBTI activist Vitaly Milonov responded to Madonna’s statement by calling the singer a “hypocritical old lady” and accused her of prioritising gay rights over the lives of children suffering.

Madonna Has The Face Of This British Politician Emblazoned On Her Pillows

Singer Madonna at the "Chime For Change: The Sound Of Change Live" Concert at Twickenham Stadium, June 1, 2013 in London.

Madonna is one of the most resilient pop icons in the world. Having started singing professionally in the 70s, she still manages to make hits every once in a while.
That said, she recently released a new pop video titled “B***h I’m Madonna.” Delving a bit into the song, it managed to get a phenomenal 80 million views on YouTube after just about two months since its release. According to Inquisitr, the video was mainly popular because of the contrasting elements, which drew mixed reactions.
The Daily Beast is said to have made a negative review of the video, terming it to be a desperate attempt by Madonna to reinforce the image fans had of her. The Verge even stated that it was “nauseating” and that the stars on the video did not exactly make things better. The following was the statement.
“B***h, I’m Madonna” is rife with guest appearances from musicians who have recently been behaving with questionable artistic integrity. BeyoncĂ© (prepare for sacrilege) and Nicki Minaj shared an exceptionally lazy music video through Tidal last month, for which the theme seemed to be a giant “f*** you, you love us, you’ll watch us eat cheeseburgers or make duck faces or just do nothing, even.”
However, Hollywood Life described it as epic and stated that Taylor Swift, who is one of Madonna’s biggest fans, couldn’t wait to watch the video upon its release. This was as revealed by an insider.
“Taylor can’t wait to see the video, she’s the biggest Madonna fan… It’s surreal to her to have all these people talking about how Madonna could be doing her own version of “Bad Blood.” She can’t get over it!”
Away from Madonna’s music career, airline cabin crew recently revealed her attitude when travelling. According to the Mirror, crew members were sharing their experiences on the Professional Pilots Rumour Network and some claimed that Madonna was simply “precious” but also had a habit of “throwing her toys out”.
Yesterday, she posted a picture of her and son Rocco on Instagram. However, a pillow with an emblazoned picture of George Galloway, the leader of the British Respect Party, could be seen behind them.

The pillow is said to have been first noticed by the Truth Seeker Twitter account and caught the politician’s eye, who made a quick retweet as he was no doubt flattered to be associated with the star. He also retweeted messages from other Twitter users who commented on the picture. The picture is said to have been taken in 2005. This is as reported by the Independent.

Rock Hall Anniversary: Marriage of Madonna and Sean Penn

The John Lennon "Double Fantasy" album where "I'm Losing You" first appeared.

It's always been thought that John Lennon videotaped his 1980 studio sessions, but there hasn't been any real proof. Apparently until now. A four-minute clip featuring inserts of color footage of Lennon in the studio singing a rough version of the “Double Fantasy” song “I'm Losing You” backed by members of the band Cheap Trick popped up Aug. 10 on YouTube.
The video compares to the version Cheap Trick themselves posted on You Tube some years ago. But there is new content, such as when the new clip opens, you can hear studio chatter with Lennon saying, “We'll find each other at the end of the lake” and someone playing a riff from “She's a Woman” before the song actually begins. Though bits and pieces of the video show Lennon in the studio, some of the clip (the actual Cheap Trick footage) is from the video for the song Cheap Trick themselves posted in the past. But none of the color footage comes from the earlier video which makes those color segments with Lennon certainly a major find and a revelation.
The audio of the Cheap Trick take is rougher than what was put on “Double Fantasy” and was left off the original album. It first surfaced on “The John Lennon Anthology” and there has been speculation since about why it wasn't originally released. Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen offered one reason in an interview with the Las Vegas Sun. “It never fit with the continuity of the rest of the album,” he told the paper in 2009. “It was sort of embarrassing when people heard we were going to play on the album, then we weren’t on the album.”
The big question would be, obviously, is there more of this new footage to come? Time will certainly tell.

Superstar remixer who has worked with Madonna and will.i.am works from his mum's garage!

You won’t have heard of him, but Bentley Jones is a huge music star – who works from his mum’s garage in Solihull.
He has worked with the likes of Madonna, will.i.am, Sia and Ariana Grande.
Lady Gaga follows him on Twitter and he is treated like a rock star in Japan.
He’s a different kind of musician, one who remixes hits and puts his own stamp on them from his studio.
Now 30, he’s been doing that since he dropped out of college at 17. He has since built up a global business.
Having released his own music in Japan and America, Bentley is now stepping in to the spotlight in his own country. He’s releasing his first album, called The Prequel, and is planning a UK tour.

Bentley explains: “I started experimenting with music when I was a teenager, just playing around in my bedroom with keyboards and synthesisers. I taught myself from scratch to do geeky stuff like editing wave forms.
“They tried to get me to take music GCSE at Light Hall School but that wasn’t for me.
“I’m doing the same things now but on a professional scale, although I still feel like that teenager making sounds in my room. I try not to think too much about Madonna and Lady Gaga listening to my music.
“I was remixing music and sending them out to people, until a promotional company in London called back and offered me a contract to produce remixes for them.
“I was just 17. I dropped out of the media course I was studying at Stratford-upon-Avon College but I didn’t have to move to London, I could just carry on at home.
“My grandfather died when I was 19 and I used his inheritance to convert the garage at my mum’s house and turn it into a studio. Now I work all over the place but I still come back.

“I do play some instruments, but not well – to the point where I can get the sound I want from them.
“I will start off playing on the keyboard and find a chord I like, then add a beat and a melody. I like to think of a piece as a lump of clay which I will keep moulding and building on.”
Most of Bentley’s work involves remixing the hits of stars like Madonna, Sia and Lady Gaga – he’s remixed Living For Love, Chandelier and Judas. “I am asked to remix hit singles to promote the artists, usually in nightclubs,” says Bentley. “My tracks will be sent out to radio and club DJs.
“I will listen to see what I can take from it, and anything that jumps out at me I use as a starting point for turning the song into what I want.
“I can be speeding it up and changing the beat or adding a hook. It’s not a case of improving on the original, just taking it to a different place.
"Fans aren’t too happy if you change too much of a song they love. My remixes are not necessarily commercially released but they can be if there’s a demand from the clubs.

    Poker Face: Lady Gaga
    Lady Gaga
“I don’t usually get to meet the artists, although I have hung out in Tokyo with Pharrell Williams. He’s very short, a good foot and a half of him is those hats he wears!
“One of my Twitter followers mentioned Lady Gaga was following me – I hadn’t even noticed, but that is cool.

“It does feel slightly weird to promote my music in the UK. I feel like I’m in a bubble when I’m somewhere like Japan, where they treat me like a rock star. I don’t get too overwhelmed because it seems so unreal and far away.
"But now I’m doing it here on my doorstep, which is exciting but a little bit strange.”

Jenny McCarthy Crashed Madonna's Oscar Party

    Jenny McCarthy

Jenny McCarthy crashed Madonna's Oscar party.
The 42-year-old model and her friends turned up to the 'Material Girl' hitmaker's annual Academy Awards bash a few years ago in their pyjamas after enjoying six bottles of champagne.
Recalling the night, she said: "Me and my girl friends and my sister were hanging at my house in the valley watching the show and I don't usually watch the Academy Awards because it's a reminder of everything you failed at, especially if you're in this business. But my friends thought it would be a good idea to watch the Academy Awards whilst getting completely lit.
"So we sat around and between five of us, I think it was, we went through about six bottles of champagne ... And one of my friends said, 'Hey, Madonna has an after party every year at Guy Ritchie's house. Why don't we crash it?'
"I had one too many and I had confidence like I've never had before. And I looked at my girl friends and my sister and we were in our pyjamas. We looked like hot messes; just gross. And it was midnight at this point and I said, 'Screw it. Let's do it!'"
The group thought they'd try their luck and were shocked when a bodyguard let them in.
She told Entertainment Weekly: "We drove to Guy Ritchie's house and we get in this huge line. We get to the guy and guys surrounding him with clipboards and I rolled down the window and I go, 'Jenny McCarthy'. And he goes, 'I don't see your name.' ...
"And he says, 'How many people?' And I say, 'Just six.' Now most people can only bring one person ... and this isn't a party where celebrities bring their friends. And the guy goes, 'Just go.' So my friend hit the gas pedal and was like, 'F**k yes!' So we go in the house and every single person is a huge celebrity."
